Sabina Yasmin, the iconic singer of the subcontinent, is making a triumphant return to the music scene. She is set to grace two prominent events in Dhaka on Friday and Saturday with her charming performances. Following these, she is also scheduled for a stage show in Chattogram.
During her first performance, Sabina will not only present her personal favourite songs but will also cater to the audience’s requests.
Earlier, in late 2023, Sabina Yasmin performed at multiple stage shows in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, Australia. Since then, she had been away from the stage.
Reflecting on her return, she said, “By Allah’s grace, I am returning to music. I am, at heart, a musician. Six decades have passed, immersed in the music industry, and I cannot imagine my life without it. Music is my ultimate joy, and it feels incredibly fulfilling to return to that place of happiness.”
Sabina further revealed that several music directors have reached out to her for the recording of new songs. She plans to record during her breaks from stage performances.
To prepare for her upcoming shows, she engaged in rehearsals with musicians on January 26, 27, and 28.
Regarding her health, Sabina disclosed that she underwent surgery on February 7, 2024. Following the surgery, she underwent 30 rounds of radiotherapy over a span of four months. The details of her treatment are only shared with her family members. Only close family members were aware of these details. She described it as a difficult battle but remained mentally strong.
After completing her treatment, Sabina returned to Dhaka in May, although she needed to visit Singapore several times for follow-up care. However, she assured that no further visits are necessary for the time being.
Sabina Yasmin shared, “One could consider this treatment a life-and-death struggle. But I had faith that whatever Allah willed would happen. It was through Allah’s boundless mercy and the prayers of the people that I found the strength to persevere. The four months I spent undergoing treatment were undoubtedly the most challenging period of my life.”
She further expressed, “During this time, my dearest friend, my sister, Milia Sabed, was my pillar of support. I stayed at her home throughout my radiotherapy sessions in Singapore. Her sincere love and care left me deeply moved. She provided emotional support, courage, and inspiration. What she has done for me, and continues to do, is something I can never repay in this lifetime.”
