Bashundhara Shuvosangho, a voluntary organisation of the Bashundhara Group, has stood by the family of martyred Biplob Hasan, 20, who was shot dead by Law enforcers fire during the quota reformation movement in Gouripur upazila in Mymensingh, reports Daily Sun.
A team from the Gouripur unit of the voluntary organisation met the family members of Biplob in his village home in Churali village of Douhakhla union. They handed over food items (50 kg of rice, oil, and onion) educational materials (notebooks and pens) and cash.
They also assured the family members of being on their side in the time of their need.
General Secretary of Bashundhara Shubasangho Gouripur upazila Harun Mia, Joint General Secretary Parash Moni, Jahangir Islam Sabbir and Afridi Hassan Nirab were present on the occasion among the team members.
They said Biplob attended the SSC examination this year. He also used to work part-time in a factory as his father could not work and earn for the family.
On 20 July, he and many others were severely injured as police opened fire on demonstrators seeking quota reform on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway in Kaltapara market under Gouripur upazila.
After he was taken to a nearby hospital, the doctor declared Biplob dead.
After receiving the food, Bilkis Akhter said, “We are indebted to you as you have come to us to inquire about my family's condition. My innocent son was killed by police firing. I want punishment of those involved in the killing.”
Biplob’s father Babul Mia used to work in a workshop but cannot do so now. He wished his gratefulness to Bashundhara Shuvosangho for their kindness.
