The court has placed the former social welfare minister Dr Dipu Moni on a 4-day remand, while placed former youth and sport deputy minister Arif Khan Joy on a 5-day remand on the charge of involvement in killing grocery shop owner Abu Sayed.
After the hearing on Tuesday, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Sohag Uddin sent Dipu Moni to 4-day remand and Joy to 5-day.
Earlier, Inspector Tofazzal Hossain of Mohammadpur police station applied for 10-day remand for proper investigation of the case. After the hearing, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Sohag Uddin Dipu granted 4-day and 5-day remand for Dipu and Joy consecutively.
In the remand application, the investigating officer mentioned that information is available that the accused are aware of the incident of killing the victim. Dipu Moni and Arif Khan Joy need to be remanded for 10 days to reveal the main mystery of the incident including the names of the person who ordered the killing of the victim in the case and to collect the names and addresses of the other accused involved in the incident.
