The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives issued a notification on Monday evening, removing 988 vice chairmen across the country.
Of them, 494 are male and 464 are female vice chairmen.
Earlier, chairmen of 493 upazila parishads of the country have been removed from their posts while upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) have been given charge of administrator of respective upazila parishads.
Local Government Division issued two separate notifications to this end on Sunday last.
