Former MP Shafiqul Islam Shimul of Natore-2 constituency, along with 62 leaders and activists of the Awami League, have been sued in connection with attacks on BNP leaders in Natore, reports UNB.
Two separate cases were filed at the Natore Sadar Police Station on Saturday afternoon by Dewan Shaheen, joint convener of the District BNP, and Saiful Islam Aftab, former president of the district Jubo Dal.
According to the case details, on March 13 of this year, under the leadership of Shimul, Awami League activists allegedly attacked Dewan Shaheen in the Fulbagan area of the city, leaving him critically injured. Shimul and 36 others have been accused in this case.
The second case involves an alleged shooting on December 29, 2023, where Saiful Islam Aftab, was reportedly targeted by Awami League activists in an effort to suppress an anti-government movement. Aftab has named Shimul and 26 others in this complaint.
