Rakib, Ashiq, Mahadi, Babu, Meem— all are the children from unprivileged families. Some of them have lost father, some lost mother, even some of them have lost the both. They have been deprived of family blessing after their birth. Only one or two of them goes to schools, while others work as garbage collectors.
Even if they wander in dirty clothes, there is no one to see them. Friends of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Dhamrai Branch made arrangement of foods for more than half a hundred children of such underprivileged families as lunch. At the same time, they initiated these children to become good people. Children have been shared many stories and success stories of real life so that they are inspired to become good people by studying and learning.
The children also listened enthusiastically to Bashundhara Shuvosangho members. Some have agreed to start studying again. From 10 am to 4 pm, the underprivileged children and friends of Bashundhara Shuvosangho spent a joyful time.
Recently this day-long event was held in Kalampur area of Dhamrai near Dhaka.
Friends of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Dhamrai Branch informed the children in advance. Children started gathering one by one from morning. Mehbeen Mushfika, Organizing Secretary of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Central Committee, Afrina, Siam, Wasim Akram of Dhamrai Branch arranged for the children to sit at one place, and organized various sports with them. In the meantime, they also supervised the cooking for the children.
Children's food that day was khichuri and meat. Some of the children went back to the kitchen to peek in the middle of the game. Children were curious about what was being cooked for them. The cooking was finished by noon. The children were arranged to sit on mats in a large empty space. Bashundhara Shuvosangho members washed their hands well before they started eating. They teach children how to wash their hands and wash their hands thoroughly before each meal. Children also pay heed to them with great enthusiasm. After washing hands, a plate of food is placed in front of everyone. The organizers served food on their plates and Children ate to their content.
The organizers said, “Bashundhara Shuvosangho is doing social work all over the country. It’s taking various steps to bring the underprivileged children back to the mainstream. In that continuity we have gathered these children. It was not our main intention to have them a meal. We were able to teach them a lot in between taking foods and encouraged them to study. If they want to study, Bashundhara Shuvosangho will be by their side. Some of them seem to have a strong desire to study. We will admit the interested children in new schools.”
