A Meherpur Court on Sunday sentenced nine people to death over the murder of two brothers in Gangni upazila of Meherpur, reports Daily Sun.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Ripoti Kumar Biswas pronounced the verdict.
The court also acquitted five others as allegations brought against them could not be proved
The condemned convicts are Halim, 35, Atiar, 40, Shariful Islam, 40, Sharif, 40, and his brother Farid; Jalal Uddin, 42, Azizul, 36, Moni, 25, and Dabir Uddin, 32.
According to the case statement, the accused kidnapped and killed Rafiqul and his brother Abuzel on June 16, 2012, as they helped BGB to seize drugs.
Later, Jarina Begum, sister of the slain brothers, filed a case with Gangni Police Station.
Police on September 26, 2012, submitted chargesheet of the case accusing 14 persons.
