Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday asked new Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) cadres to utilise their talents and innovative ideas to build the developed, prosperous and Smart Bangladesh.
“In continuation of the works (the progress) we’ve done, you all will have to think afresh how this country can be built in more nice ways by utilizing your innovative power and talents. I want the new officers to take the country forward by applying their talents to transform into a developed, prosperous and Smart Bangladesh,” she said.
The Prime Minister was addressing the certificate-awarding and closing ceremony of the 74th foundation training course of BCS officers at Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in the capital, reports BSS and UNB.
Mentioning to the situation of Bangladesh 14 years back, Sheikh Hasina said huge development has been made in the country in the last 14 years.
She asked the new BCS officers to take the country forward with maintaining the current development spree.
Sheikh Hasina said they will build the country as a smart Bangladesh by 2041 through making the population, economy and all social systems smart.
In this time, she described the fresh officers as the soldiers in the implementation of the ‘2041 Smart Bangladesh’ vision as they will go to higher posts in the government services gradually in future.
The Premier said you have to work for implementing Delta Plan-2100 formulated by this government, continuing that her government already started executing it to protect Bangladesh from the adverse impact of the climate change.
"You have to keep in mind that we will always have to go forward," she said.
She reiterated her call to the countrymen to show austerity in using resources including electricity, water and gas as it is not known when the Ukraine war will stop.
The price of every commodity and transport cost went up throughout the world due to the one-after-another sanctions and counter-sanctions.
The entire people of the country should be conscious in this regard as well as should make savings, become economical and show austerity in the use of everything, she added.
She also asked the administration to promote the people to exercise austerity in the use of resources and raise food production in the country to offset the global crisis.
The Prime Minister said the new officers will have to work for the welfare of the country and its people with a sense of belonging.
She asked the freshers to follow the ideal of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and spirit of the Liberation War in running the state.
Sheikh Hasina also called upon them to expedite uplift works for ensuring country's overall development to turn Bangladesh into a hunger-and-poverty free state as envisioned by the Father of the Nation.
She thanked the government officers for working sincerely in implementing the housing project.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain, Senior Secretary of the Ministry Mohammed Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury and BPATC Rector Md Ashraf Uddin also spoke at the function.
