Bangladesh’s speedster Ebadot Hossain is ruled out from national squad for ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2023 for his ligament injury.
The 29-year-old fast bowler will miss the tournament due to a persistent knee injury. The injury, an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) concern, surfaced during a recent ODI series against Afghanistan, reports UNB.
Despite undergoing an intensive six-week rehabilitation program, Ebadot's recovery has fallen short of expectations, rendering him unfit to participate in the forthcoming tournament slated to take place in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
In light of this setback, Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) Chief Sports Physician, Dr. Debashis Chowdhury, addressed the situation, revealing that multiple MRI scans had been conducted during Ebadot's rehabilitation period. The results revealed an ongoing issue with his ACL, necessitating additional medical management.
As Bangladesh cricket strategizes around Ebadot's unfortunate setback, the National Selection Panel of the BCB has announced an uncapped replacement for the prestigious tournament. In a promising turn of events, 20-year-old Tanzim Hasan Sakib has been ushered into the squad.
Tanzim's entry into the senior team is based on his remarkable performance in List A cricket, amassing an impressive tally of 57 wickets across 37 matches.
