Mob Attack: Teenager beaten to death in Tongi

A teenager was killed and another got severely injured as mob beat them accusing of robbery, reports Dhaka Tribune.

At Wednesday evening, the incident took place in Dattapara’s Haque Mor area of Tongi, Gazipur.

The deceased was identified as Sabbir Hossain, 18. He died at midnight while undergoing treatment for the beating. The other injured is yet to be identified.

According to local sources, a series of muggings occurred in the area on Wednesday evening. Shortly afterward, locals apprehended Sabbir and the other teen, suspecting them of being involved in the crimes. 

The two were subjected to a mob beating, leaving them both critically injured.

At around 1:30am, locals brought the injured men to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital, where Sabbir was pronounced dead during treatment.

The unknown teen was not found at the hospital when police arrived.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kaiser Ahmed of Tongi East police station said that an investigation is underway, and a case will be filed.

Sabbir's body has been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur for autopsy.
