After a two-day remand in a separate murder case related to the anti-discrimination student movement, former Agriculture Minister Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaq and former Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Faruk Khan, have been sent to jail.
Ali Haider, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate ordered the imprisonment of the former ministers on Thursday.
On October 15, the court granted a two-day remand for Abdur Razzaq for a murder case of Abdul Wadud which took place in the New Market area of the capital. When the remand ended, he was presented in court on Thursday, where DB Police Inspector Jahangir Arif of the Ramna Zone, the case’s investigating officer, requested that he be kept in jail. Even though the defense lawyer applied for bail, the judge denied it and ordered him to be sent to jail.
On 14th October, around 7:45 pm, The DB(Detective Branch) arrested Abdur Razzak from the Eskaton area of the capital.
On the other hand, on October 15, the court granted a two-day remand for Faruk Khan for the murder of BNP activist Makbul Hossain which took place two years ago. After the remand, he was presented before the court on Thursday. Nazmul Hasan, the case’s investigating officer requested that he be kept in jail. Even though the defense lawyer requested bail, it was denied.
Earlier, on October 14 at 1:45 a.m., Faruk Khan was arrested from the Dhaka CMH area by a team led by Major Abir of RAB-1.
