Nazmul Abedin Fahim, director of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), said on Wednesday that it was sad to see Chandika Hathurusingha leave in such a way.
On Tuesday, Hathurusingha was sacked as there was an allegation against him assaulting a player during the 2023 ODI World Cup.
He has been suspended for 48 hours and after that, he is to be "terminated immediately" after that period.
He has already been replaced by Phil Simmons, a former West Indian all-rounder. He will serve as the interim head coach till the Champions Trophy 2025.
“A combination of a lot of things (Hathurusingha’s tenure). He has his achievements and he also has had some misconducts too. We've heard about some problems regarding him. It was sad to see him leave this way, personally I feel since I have been a coach. We've seen in some major ICC tournaments, we couldn't achieve what we expected under his guidance. So it's a mixture of both, actually," Nazmul Abedin told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday.
Hathurusingha returned for his second stint as Bangladesh coach in February 2023. Shortly after Faruque Ahmed was appointed as board president, he had said that the Sri Lankan should no longer continue as Bangladesh's head coach.
