Bangladesh beat Netherlands by 9 runs in their opening match of the Twenty20 World Cup Super 12 at Bellerive Oval on Monday.
Defending a lowly 144 Taskin got two wickets in first two balls to get rid of Dutch openers Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Leede to set the momentum.
Despite regular fall of wickets Colin Ackermann’s remain steady on wicket but Taskin in his last over removed the dangerman for 62 off 48 to make sure Tigers got off to a good start to the tournament.
Taskin's new ball partner Hasan Mahmud also chipped in with 2-15.
Defending a lowly 144 Taskin is the main man to stop Netherlands. He took 4 wickets by giving 25 runs in 4 overs. This is his best figure in international T20. Later he was announced man of the match.
Earlier, after losing the toss Bangladesh posted 144- in 20 overs.
Openers Soumya Sarker and Najmul Hossain Shanto made a steady start for Tigers as they scored 43 in the opening stand.
Bangladesh were in good position after five overs as they were 43 for no loss. Then within 4.1 overs they lost four quick wickets before rain interrupts.
Later Afif Hossian scored 38 and Mosaddek Hossian was unbeaten on 20 to help Tigers to score past 140-run mark.
