The newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), A.M.M. Nasir Uddin, has emphasized the significance of his new role, calling it a position of great importance. Acknowledging the high expectations surrounding the Election Commission, particularly in the context of upcoming elections, he pledged to perform his duties with the highest level of dedication and commitment.
“I believe in free, fair, and credible election. That’s my mission and that’s my vision. This is my responsibility and this is my commitment to the nation,” said the newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner
Addressing future challenges, A.M.M. Nasir Uddin remarked, "Challenges are inevitable. As a Secretary, I served in the health, energy, and information ministries, where I also faced challenges. More challenges will come in the future, and these must be tackled responsibly."
The other appointed Election Commissioners are- retired Additional Secretary Anwarul Islam Sarker, retired District and Sessions Judge Abdur Rahmanel Masud, retired Joint Secretary Begum Tahmida Ahmed, and retired Brigadier General Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah.
Amid the changing political landscape, the members of the Election Commission (EC), led by Kazi Habibul Awal, resigned on September 5. The commission stepped down just two and a half years into its tenure as the political situation shifted on August 5 when the Awami League government stepped down.
