Garment factory workers in Gazipur are protesting by blocking the Nabinagar-Chandra road in the Tetuibari area under Kashimpur police station. The protest comes in response to injuries sustained by workers in a recent road accident.
According to sources from workers, police, and local residents, a female worker from Narban Comtex Limited was on her way to work in the Chakraborty area around 6 a.m. on Thursday. As she was crossing the road, a long-distance bus struck her from behind and then fled the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported that the injured worker was rushed to a local hospital. Following the incident, factory workers gathered and blocked the Nabinagar-Chandra road in protest, causing a significant traffic jam. Passengers were severely affected by the disruption.
Since the morning, members of the joint force have been working to restore normal traffic flow on the Nabinagar-Chandra road. The forces were observed engaging with the workers, urging them to lift the blockade and clear the road.
