Rangpur division’s skipper Akbar Ali is set to be banned for two matches for committing Level 2 offence during the fifth round match of the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) against Barishal at the Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
Minhajul Abedin Nannu, Convenor of the NCL Technical Committee, confirmed the development to the Daily Sun.
“He confronted the umpire aggressively while fielding during the match, and later smashed a chair with his bat in frustration after getting out,” Nannu told the Daily Sun on Thursday.
There are two more rounds left in the ongoing NCL, which means Akbar will not participate any further in this season’s first-class tournament.
He scored 21 in the first innings and later picked up two wickets with the ball in hand against Barishal.
