Interim Government Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus said that he was proud that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia had attended the Armed Forces Day reception.
Speaking at the event on Thursday afternoon at Dhaka Cantonment's Senakunja, held to mark Armed Forces Day 2024, he shared his sentiments.
"We are proud to have Khaleda Zia here with us. She is the wife of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and has not had the opportunity to attend this event for over a decade. Despite her prolonged illness, she joined us on this special day, and we thank her for that. We wish her a swift recovery," said Dr. Yunus.
During the reception, Khaleda Zia took the seat designated for her alongside Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus.
After exchanging greetings with the guests, the Chief Adviser conversed with Begum Khaleda Zia who appeared cheerful.
This marks Khaleda Zia's return to the Senakunja event after 12 years, as well as her first public appearance at an event since 2018.
