Law Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul said a provision of appealing against the interim order of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has been introduced to ensure a fair trial.
He made the remarks in response to a question from reporters after inspecting the renovation work of the main building of the ICT on Thursday (November 21) morning.
Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan and the prosecutors of the tribunal were present at the time.
When asked whether there will be a delay in the trial due to this provision against the interim order, Asif Nazrul said the provision of appeal against the interim order of the ICT is in place to ensure fairness. However, it will be used in very limited cases.
Replying to another question about the provision of bringing political parties under trial has been removed from this ordinance, the adviser said, it would not be right to link any other issue with this trial for its fairness.
Earlier on Wednesday (November 20) Advisory Council of the interim government gave in-principle and final approval to the draft of the "International Crimes (Tribunal) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024" at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
