Bangladesh tennis team shrugged off their previous match defeat as they bounced back to beat Yemen in their second group D match of the "2024 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group-5' tennis tournament held today (Thursday) in Isa Town, Bahrain.
In the first singles, Mohammad Rustam Ali of Bangladesh defeated Mohammad Makki of Yemen 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 but in the second singles Zarif Abrar of Bangladesh lost to Al Ansi Hassan of Yemen 3-6, 3-6.
In the doubles event, Bangladesh's Hanif Munna and Zarif Abra pair defeated Yemen's Al Ansi Hasan and Issaq Al Hasan pair 7-5, 6-4.
Bangladesh team will compete against Tajikistan tomorrow.
Earlier, Bangladesh suffered a 3-0 defeat to host Bahrain in their opening group match.
Apart from host Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Laos, Macau, Maldives, Mongolia, Yemen, Nepal, Tajikistan, Guam, Turkmenistan, Northern Marina Island and Philippines Davis Cup teams are taking part in the competition which is being held under the sanction of International Tennis Federation and under the management of Bahrain Tennis Federation.
