Bashundhara Shuvosangho on Thursday supported students in forming a human chain to protest against a terrorist attack on a high school student at a Barguna rural school two days earlier.
On Tuesday, a youth hacked a brilliant female student of Putiakhali Adarsha Secondary School located in the district’s Betagi upazila, leaving her critically injured.
Later that day, police managed to apprehend the miscreant, 22, and a case was filed against seven over the incident.
At Thursday’s human chain, Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Betagi upazila unit President Md Kamal Hossain strongly denounced the barbaric attack on a bright student and demanded justice against the culprits.
He also demanded the authorities take steps so that school children can study at ease and without any fear of interruptions.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho adviser and Kaler Kantho’s Betagi upazila correspondent Swapan Kumar Dhali, Bashundhara Shuvosangho members Jashim Uddin and Sajal Mahmud as well as school students Samia Akter and Tripti Chandana took part in the human chain, among others.
Following Tuesday’s attack, the victim was first admitted to the local upazila hospital. As her condition did not improve, she was shifted to the Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Chikitshya Mahabidyalay in Barishal.
As a result of the incident, Betagi upazila students are suffering from insecurity in their respective educational institutions.
