A day after Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was stabbed at his Mumbai home, a suspect was detained following a huge manhunt that included acquiring technological data and police informants dispersed around the city, reports NDTV.

Visuals from this morning showed the suspect being escorted to the Bandra Police Station.

However, little is known about him, and it remains unclear if he is the same individual who broke into the actor's home and attacked him.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the stabbing and trespassing incident, it said.

According to sources, the suspect was spotted near Bandra railway station after the attack and is believed to have changed clothes to avoid detection. Police formed 20 teams, utilised technical data, and relied on informers to track him down. Search operations also extended to Vasai and Nalasopara.

The intruder reportedly entered the 12-story 'Satguru Sharan' building in Bandra, where Khan resides on four floors, with the intent to commit burglary.

Police suspected that the intruder might have been acquainted with one of the household staff, enabling him to bypass CCTV cameras in the lobby. He is believed to have scaled a neighbouring compound wall and used the fire shaft to access the upper floors, the report said.

The break-in lasted around 30 minutes on the building’s 11th floor, during which Khan and his household staff resisted the intruder. In the altercation, the nanny of Khan’s younger son Jeh sustained injuries, and the actor suffered six wounds before being rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery. He is now out of danger.

The intruder escaped via the fire shaft and was last seen on CCTV descending the stairs from the sixth floor, avoiding detection while leaving the premises, added the report.

The incident has sparked questions regarding the security arrangements in the upscale Bandra neighbourhood and drawn criticism from the opposition over the city’s law-and-order situation.

Mumbai Police have registered a case of robbery, trespassing, and causing grievous harm.
