Nick Pothas has stepped down from the post of assistant coach of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The Proteus coach left the BCB job mainly citing family reasons. He himself confirmed this information on social media.
Nick Pothas, who worked as assistant coach of Chandika Hathurusingha, survived even though Chandika was laid off. But Pothas coach left Bangladesh's responsibility a month before the Champions Trophy.
In an Instagram message, Pothas wrote, "Like all good things, this too must come to an end. I have had an amazing time with many in Bangladesh cricket. We have made many records together, created history and made wonderful memories. Now I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with my family. Then we will see what the next chapter holds."
"A fantastic year awaits Bangladesh cricket. Best wishes to everyone in the team. I will miss you."
Pothas has been coaching in different parts of the world for more than a decade. He served as the head coach of Sri Lanka (2017-18) and West Indies (2018-19). The former Proteus wicket keeper and batsman was also the fielding coach for both countries. Meanwhile, Mohammad Salahuddin has recently been appointed as Bangladesh's senior assistant coach. He has been in charge since the West Indies tour that ended in December.
