The newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and four election commissioners are set to take their oath on Sunday. Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed will administer the oath at 1:30 pm in the Judges' Lounge of the Supreme Court.
Retired Secretary AMM Nasir Uddin has been appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). The newly appointed election commissioners include former Additional Secretary Md. Anwarul Islam Sarkar, former District and Sessions Judge Abdur Rahmanel Masud, former Joint Secretary Tahmida Ahmed, and Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah.
The newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), AMM Nasir Uddin, retired in 2009 after serving as secretary to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Information, and the Ministry of Health.
This appointment follows the resignation of the previous Election Commission, led by Kazi Habibul Awal, on September 5, a month after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5.
