England defeated Afghanistan by 5 wickets in Group 1 Super 12 match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held at Perth in Australia as English bowler Sam Curran grabbed 5 wickets for just 10 runs.
Winning the toss England sent Afghanistan to bat first. Afghanistan amassed just 112 runs losing all wickets in 19.4 overs.
Excellent bowling from Sam Curran didn’t make the Afghan batters bat freely. Top order batter Ibrahim Zadran scored 32 off 30 balls, while another top order Usman Ghani scored 30 off 30.
In reply, England got a steady start from their openers and top-order. But, they faced no trouble to chase this small total down as coming at number 5, Liam Livingstone scored 29 off 21 balls. He raimained not out to reach England home.
For his outstanding bowling performance, Sam Curran was judged Player of the Match.
