DU expels 128 students for attacking on July protesters

The Dhaka University (DU) administration has temporarily expelled 128 students for their alleged involvement in attacks on protesters during the mass uprising.

Confirming the decision, DU proctor Saifuddin Ahmed said that the decision was made in a syndicate meeting on Monday.

“This decision was taken in light of the fact-finding committee report regarding the attacks during the July mass uprising.”

“It is known that these expelled students are involved in the politics of the banned organization Bangladesh Chhatra League. Their names and identities will be revealed later, said the proctor.

He said: “128 people have been temporarily expelled. The university formed an inquiry committee headed by syndicate member Professor Tajmeri SA Islam.

Later, a final decision will be taken on the basis of the report of the inquiry committee, he continued.
