Due to technical glitches, VAT returns for the current month can be submitted online until tomorrow (March 18).
Although the deadline for filing VAT returns is usually the 16th of every month, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) extended the deadline as many taxpayers were unable to complete the VAT process.
In a letter sent to field-level offices related to customs and value-added tax (VAT), the NBR stated that the issue arose due to an increase in the number of simultaneous users and hardware requirements.
Dr. Md. Abdur Rouf, member (VAT Policy) of NBR, said that the problem occurred because of the rush of companies submitting returns.
According to an NBR notification, a sudden technical problem occurred on March 16, the last day for filing returns online. As a result, taxpayers were unable to submit their returns on that day. In this situation, the deadline for online submission of VAT returns for the tax period of February 2025 has been extended from March 16 to March 18.
