Foreign adviser Md Touhid Hossain called the country people to stay vigilant against propaganda and fabricated news as Indian media uses them to vilify Bangladesh to the world.
He made the call on Monday while addressing a workshop and view exchange program at the Economic Reporters’ Forum’s (ERF) head office at Paltan tower in the capital.
The foreign adviser said that they are not in favor of postponing the LDC graduation. He added: “We are aware of it since long, but businessmen have done nothing about it.”
“We will have LDC graduation by 2026. There is no room for delay from here,” he reaffirmed his statement.
He highlighted the need for increasing the revenue income saying that the country now is facing financial crisis.
Bangladesh is in a shameful state in terms of tax-GDP ratio, he continued. “We need to move on from this. The current interim government wishes to do something better for the country.”
Md Touhid emphasized on the development of the country’s cotton sector and said that policy support will be provided to flourish the cotton sector in the country.
“The government will take some good decisions for the development of the cotton sector within two months,” he said, adding: “Cotton will be recognized as an agricultural product and arrangements will be made so that farmers get low-interest loans for cotton cultivation.”
