The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has reported that a heatwave is sweeping across 12 districts and may persist. Additionally, thunderstorms are likely to occur in various regions over the next three days.
According to the 72-hour weather forecast issued at 9 am on Monday, a mild heatwave is affecting the districts of Dhaka, Faridpur, Manikganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Rangamati, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jashore, Chuadanga, and Patuakhali, and it may continue.
Day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country during this period.
The weather office stated that a trough of low pressure stretches from West Bengal to adjoining areas, while the seasonal low lies over the South Bay of Bengal. As a result, some places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, and Sylhet divisions may experience gusty or squally winds accompanied by lightning or rain on Monday.
Scattered hailstorms may also occur in some areas. Elsewhere in the country, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies, said the met office bulletin.
The agency further predicted that on Tuesday, isolated places in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions might witness gusty or squally winds accompanied by lightning or rain. Scattered hailstorms may also occur in some areas, while other regions are expected to experience mostly dry weather with partly cloudy skies.
Day temperatures are likely to remain unchanged, but night temperatures may slightly decrease.
On Wednesday, a few places in the Sylhet division may see gusty or squally winds with lightning or rain, while the rest of the country is expected to experience mostly dry weather with partly cloudy skies. Day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.
The extended forecast indicates that there could be rain or thundershowers across the country in the early part of the next five days.
