Country’s football icon, Hamza Dewan Choudhury, is optimistic about securing a victory against India.
Hamza, who arrived with his family today, spoke to the media outside the Osmani International Airport in Sylhet.
“Amazing, amazing … long time coming,” said Hamza while asking him to know his feeling.
“Inshallah we will win. We have a big chance,” he said in Bangla while asked about the India game.
Hamza is set to make his debut for Bangladesh in a crucial first-leg match of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers Final Round against India on 25 March at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) welcomed him with floral bouquet.
Hamza’s mother Rafia Dewan Chowdhury, Wife Olivia Choudhury, their three kids and Hamza’s two brothers, physio and one official were with him.
Before boarding his flight to Bangladesh, Hamza played in the Sheffield Derby against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday evening.
Sheffield United secured a 1-0 victory, with the winning goal scored by Rhian Brewster. Hamza played full 90 minutes of the match.
