BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has provided financial assistance to the family and talked to rape victim’s mother who also lost his husband for seeking justice, reports BSS.
Victim’s family is devastated in the incident of rape and later losing the only bread earning member as miscreants raped the seventh grader and later killer her father for filing lawsuit with Barguna Sadar thana.
Tarique Rahman assured the victim's family that his party would stand by them in their pursuit of justice for the crime committed against the girl.
“You are the people of Bangladesh. BNP will stand by your family for the injustice that has happened to you. We will try our best to ensure that you get justice,” he told the rape victim’s mother while talking with her over phone.
“BNP will stand by you with all kinds of assistance as per its capacity. Don’t be afraid. The people of the country and BNP are with you,” he said.
The wife of the deceased said, “My husband was murdered while seeking justice for my daughter’s rape. I also have no security. My husband was the only earner in our family. Now what will I do with my children, what will I feed them?”
Tarique Rahman told the victim's mother that he has already instructed party leaders to take all necessary steps for the child’s treatment.
“Senior party leaders are going there. They will talk to you. Tell them what kind of cooperation you need. I don’t know how much we can do. But we will certainly try to stand by you.”
“I will instruct our party lawyers to provide you with legal assistance to ensure that you get justice under the rule of law. And don’t worry about your children, we will definitely do something for you,” he added.
At that time, the victim’s wife demanded speedy trial of the rapist of her child and the murderer of her husband.
The central leaders of the Chhatra Dal delivered this assistance to the family of the deceased on behalf of Tarique Rahman.
The deceased was an employee at a chicken shop in Barguna town. He has three daughters—four years and 12 years old—and a one-and-a-half-month-old baby girl. The hardship of a family consisting of six members is evident in a small wooden and tin-roof house they live in.
The deceased's wife told reporters, “My husband filed a case as a plaintiff after my daughter was raped. Later, my husband was killed at night before the date of the case. We suspect that the relatives of the accused in the rape case committed the murder. After losing my husband, I am now in panic about my children. I don't know how our family will survive.”
The family members said the seventh grader victim, 14, went to attend a tuition class in the afternoon on March 4. On her way back, a group of miscreants led by Sijit Roy abducted the girl. Then, they raped the girl by covering her face with cloth.
The next morning, the miscreants abandoned the girl at a park near the deputy commissioner's office.
On that night, the victim’s father, 37, filed a rape case against two, including Sijit Roy, with Barguna Sadar police station. Locals later nabbed the two and handed them over to police. The police arrested Sijit and released his friend on bond.
The family of the accused Sijit tried to persuade the victim’s family to withdraw the case. Then, on 11 March, the girl's father went missing after going to work. That day, around 12:15am, the girl's father's body was found in a bush adjacent to their house.
The girl's mother filed a murder case with Barguna Sadar police station accusing five to six unknown people. The police arrested four people, including the father of the main accused in the rape case. Later, one of them was released.
