DIG Molla Nazrul Islam, attached to Rajshahi's Sarada Police Academy (former GMP commissioner), and former Sylhet District superintendent of police (SP) Abdul Mannan have been suspended from government service.
The information about the suspension was published in two separate notifications from the Police-1 branch of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday. Senior secretary Nasimul Ghani signed the notifications on the orders of the President on March 16.
The notification said that DIG Molla Nazrul Islam was arrested on February 9 in connection with the case and handed over to the court.
Therefore, DIG Molla Nazrul Islam was suspended from government service on February 9 in accordance with the provisions of Section 39 (2) of the Government Services Act, 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018).
Another notification said that on February 9, Abdul Mannan, attached to the Rangpur Range DIG office (former Sylhet District police superintendent), was arrested and handed over to the court in connection with the case. The court ordered him to be sent to Sylhet Jail.
Therefore, superintendent of police Abdul Mannan was temporarily suspended from government service on February 9 as per the provisions of Section 39 (2) of the Government Services Act, 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018).
The notification said that these two officers will be without of food allowance as per the rules.
Earlier, former deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md. Shahidullah, former superintendent of police of Bagerhat district Abul Hasnat Khan and former superintendent of police of Noakhali Mohammad Asaduzzaman were temporarily suspended from government service due to their arrest on March 11 and imprisonment.
