Garment factory workers in the Bhogra area of Gazipur city protested demanding their overdue salaries, leading authorities to announce a holiday in 10-12 factories.
The protest began around 9:45 AM on Monday when workers from Mim Garments took to the streets. During the protest, the highway was blocked for approximately 20 minutes.
Workers from Mim Garments in the Bhogra area began protesting over unpaid wages and, at one point, blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
They also threw bricks and attempted to vandalize nearby factories, urging other factory workers to join the protest.
Later, law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene and dispersed the workers. The situation was eventually brought under control.
Assistant Police Superintendent (ASP) Wahiduzzaman Raju of Gazipur Industrial Police-2 stated that the workers were protesting for their wages. After receiving the information, law enforcement agencies arrived and brought the situation under control. Following the incident, authorities declared a holiday in 10-12 factories.
