The Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF) will stand by 850 families of those who were injured or martyred during the July uprising.
The executive director of the foundation Dr. Farhad Haleem Donar said that ZRF will hand over the Eid gifts to the family members from next Tuesday.
Farhad made the announcement on Sunday afternoon at a press conference at the Abdus Salam Hall of National Press Club.
In response to a question, he said: “Information of 850 families of those martyred and injured in the July Uprising given by the government is being collected.” He furthered that theses family will be given Eid gifts.
Remembering the supreme sacrifice of students-people in July-August mass uprising, he expressed his sympathy to the martyrs’ family and those injured who are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
He demanded for better treatment for the eye-injury people, saying: “Doctors from ZRF have already made efforts to ensure better treatment and the effort continues. The doctors of the foundation will be by their side for any need of these warriors in the future.”
It is holy month of Ramadan and the biggest festival of Muslims, Eid-ul-Fitr, will approach in a few days. Dr Donar said: “Those of us who are healthy may celebrate Eid in a joyful atmosphere. But those whom we lost forever in the July-August Revolution are some of our brothers and some of our children.”
Expressing ZRF’s wish to stand by the families of July heroes, he said: “With its limited capacity, we want to reach every martyr's family. The Foundation wants to share their joy and sorrow.”
“Under the directives of the foundation's president Tarique Rahman, our associates will collect information from the martyr’s families and reach them.” He highlighted the initiative as a continuation of the foundation’s journey that started with the objectives of helping people in their perils.
“Our initiative will start from March 18,” he said while answering a media question.
Ziaur Rahman Foundation is a non-political organization, he said while explaining the money source. He added that the donations and contributions of the members of this organization are used for the sake of humanity.
“This organization has stood by the affected people during various disasters and calamities including cyclones, tidal waves, floods and droughts.”
“The foundation also helped the bullets-wounds during the July-August revolutions,” the executive director of the foundation added.
In the recent devastating flood, the foundation stood by the flood-affected people. He assured that the foundation will stood by the people of the country in future in need.
During the conference, various members of the foundation were present.
