After a long wait, there is finally an update on 'Kalki 2898 AD', the sci-fi film directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan.
The film which mixes Indian epics with a futuristic story, impressed audiences with its visuals and became a big hit at the box office and earned an estimated Rs 1,180 crore lifetime collection.
Prabhas played Bhairava/Karna, while Bachchan portrayed Ashwatthama in the movie that ended on a cliffhanger, keeping fans waiting for the sequel.
Now, reports suggest that 'Kalki 2', will see Bachchan return with an even more impactful role. After finishing Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, the Megastar will start shooting for the sequel in May. According to Mid-Day, Big B will reprise his role as Ashwatthama and have more screen time than in the first film. This sequel will also aim at focusing on his connection with Prabhas' Bhairava/Karna and Padukone’s Sumathi.
The sequel, which was announced last year, will reportedly explore their mission to protect Sumathi’s unborn child, a key part of the story.
Director Ashwin is reportedly set to introduce the audience to a new world, Flux Lands, and a tribe called the Nomens. While the team filmed a 30-day shoot last year, major action scenes are yet to be shot, and a massive set has been built near Hyderabad for the same.
Made on a larger scale than the first film, 'Kalki 2' promises intense battles, especially between Bhairava, Ashwatthama, and Supreme Commander Yaskin, making it one of the most awaited Indian sequels.
