Home Secretary Nasimul Ghani on Sunday said there is no security threat ahead of Independence Day and the Eid-ul-Fitr, but there would be all out preparation to thwart any untoward incidents.
“Risks are always there. But, we’re not seeing any threat,” he said while replying to a question about any threat surrounding the two special days after coming out of a meeting on law and order at the Home Ministry in the Secretariat here.
Asked about the preparation to check mugging and robbery in the empty capital city during the Eid vacation, “We have taken all our preparations. Police have taken a strong stance in the last few days and it will continue in the days to come.”
Responding to another query, the home secretary said the Independence Day celebrations will not feature the customary parades this year.
The senior secretary of the home ministry said they have held talks with the concerned authorities about how to pay salaries of the workers in due time to avoid any labour unrest.
“There is a possibility of labour unrest ahead of the Eid. We have taken every possible measure by holding talks with the concerned authorities to check unrest. We have asked all concerned to clear salaries in due time as we do not want to see any chaos,” he said.
