Sheikh Hasina’s 17-year autocratic rule was brought down by a mass uprising of the students and the public. The autocratic Hasina fled to India on August 5. However, Sheikh Hasina left the country in ruins before fleeing. Even while staying in India, she is trying to destabilize Bangladesh.
In this context, the Chief Advisor to the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, gave an interview to the British media the Guardian. Regarding Hasina’s regime, he said, ‘Hasina’s regime wasn’t a government, it was a family of bandits.”
“Any order from the boss and it was done. Someone’s causing problems? We’ll make them disappear. Want to hold an election? We will make sure you win all the seats. You want money? Here’s a million dollar loan from the bank you never have to pay back,” he commented this on Hasina’s regime.
“Banks were given full licence to loot people’s money, with active participation from the government,” Dr. Yunus said. “They would send their officials with guns to get it all signed off.”
Sheikh Hasina, taking refuge in India, is spreading propaganda about a new Bangladesh and this is destabilizing the country, Dr. Yunus believes. He said, “India hosting her would be tolerated, but “allowing her to use India as a platform for her campaign to try to undo everything we have done is dangerous. It destabilises the country.”
