A total of 2,36,997 people have registered as new voters in all eight districts under Rajshahi division this year, marking a 1.5 per cent rise.
Speaking to BSS on Sunday, Delwar Hossain, regional election officer, said the total number of voters in the division has now reached 1,59,85,790 after updating the voter list. These voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the next local and national elections, reports BSS.
According to the updated voter list, Rajshahi district and the city now have 22,70,996 voters, including 11,35,767 females and 21 third-gender individuals. Of them, 35,261 are new voters, including 15,965 females.
In Joypurhat district, the total number of voters stands at 8,03,311, including 4,02,039 females, after adding 11,300 new voters, including 6,446 females.
Following the update, Bogura district now has 29,16,356 voters, including 14,58,569 females and 29 third-gender individuals. Among them, 41,062 are new voters, including 15,825 females.
The total number of voters in Naogaon district has risen to 22,79,785, including 11,37,565 females and 12 third-gender individuals, after adding 29,512 new voters, including 11,948 females.
In Chapainawabganj district, the total number of voters now stands at 13,79,107, including 7,05,055 males and one third-gender individual, after adding 22,231 new voters, including 8,391 females.
Natore district has recorded a total of 15,21,247 voters, including 7,55,735 females and 12 third-gender individuals, after the inclusion of 21,658 new voters, including 8,810 females and one third-gender individual.
In Sirajganj district, the number of voters has reached 25,92,864, including 12,73,499 females and 15 third-gender individuals, with the addition of 40,837 new voters, including 15,812 females and one third-gender individual.
Meanwhile, Pabna district now has a total of 22,12,124 voters, including 10,81,237 females and 15 third-gender individuals, after adding 35,136 new voters, including 12,079 females and one third-gender individual.
Delwar Hossain said preparations for holding the national and local body elections will begin after the publication of the final voter list.
