Bangladesh Railway will begin selling advance train tickets from March 14 on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
The decision was taken at an interministerial meeting held at Bidyut Bhaban in the capital on Sunday.
Road Transport and Bridges, and Power and Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan presided over the meeting.
According to the meeting sources, railway authorities have decided to operate five additional pairs of special trains to accommodate the increased number of homebound passengers for smooth Eid journey.
However, regular intercity trains will continue to operate as usual, but there will be no weekly breaks for these trains during this period.
