Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul said that law enforcement agencies have to complete the investigation of rape cases within 15 days and the trial in 90 days.
He shared the information while briefing reporters at the secretariat on Sunday.
Asif Nazrul said that the government will bring some amendments to relevant laws to expedite the trial process of rape cases.
Condemning the rape of a child in Magura, he said that rapists will have no place in Bangladesh.
He said, "All those accused in the Magura incident have already been arrested. The government is working to ensure the maximum punishment for them through the legal process.”
The investigation officer of the rape cases will have to complete the probe within the stipulated time and changing the investigation officer repeatedly must stop.
