The interim government is going to launch a hotline to combat sexual harassment.
This decision was taken at a meeting of the advisory council chaired by Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna on Sunday, said law advisor Asif Nazrul.
Later, he said in a briefing at the Secretariat, “On behalf of the advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs, I am informing you that a separate hotline will be provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs soon to ensure redress in the case of sexual harassment and harassment that occurs on the streets.”
He said, “Probably (the number) will be announced within 24 hours; if any incident occurs on the streets, the hotline will be open 24-hour to file a complaint. There will be a dedicated cell in the Ministry of Home Affairs to monitor it.”
The law advisor said, "The law ministry will also have a separate cell to monitor rape cases, where unnecessary delay should not be allowed."
Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Information Advisor Mahfuz Alam were present during this briefing in the conference room of the law ministry.
