Garment workers have withdrawn their blockade after six hours of protest over the death of a female coworker who was hit by a car in Banani.
Traffic returned to normal following the removal of the blockade.
Around 1:30 pm on Monday, the agitated workers ended their protest after giving police a 48-hour ultimatum to arrest those responsible, ensure their punishment, and provide compensation.
Earlier that morning, a garment worker named Minara Akter was killed after being hit by a car in the Chairman Bari area of Banani. Another garment worker, Sumaiya Akter, was injured and admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital.
Following the incident, garment workers took to the streets in protest, blocking roads and causing severe traffic congestion in the Banani, Mohakhali, and Gulshan areas. The elevated expressway also came to a standstill during the event.
