A Dhaka court on Monday imposed a travel ban on former Rajshahi University (RU) Vice Chancellor Dr M Abdus Sobhan.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Ghalib passed the order in reply to the plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC Deputy Director (Public Relations Department) Akhtarul Islam confirmed the matter.
According to the ACC petition, a three-member investigation team has been formed to investigate the allegations regarding abuse of power of Dr Abdus Sobhan, embezzlement of a huge amount of public fund during his tenure through various irregularities and corruption, and appointment of 138 teachers/employees in violation of the ban of the ministry of education.
The complaint is currently under investigation and it is presumed that he is trying to flee abroad transferring illegally acquired property.
