A case has been lodged against some police officials over beating up former chief whip of the BNP Zainul Abdin Farroque near the parliament complex on July 6, 2011, UNB reports.
The case was filed following the complaint of Farroque, also BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council member, at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on Monday.
Former DB chief Harun-Or-Rashid and joint commissioner of the DMP Biplob Kumar Sarker were among the accused.
According to the case statement, Farroque mentioned that the police beat him with sticks and kicked him with boots, intending to kill him.
On 6 July 2011, Farroque, the then opposition chief whip, had come under police attack in front of the parliament building when he was leading a procession during a strike called by BNP.
On the following day, police had filed a case against Farroque, accusing him of obstructing government activities during the hartal hours.
