Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said countrymen will have to resist and bring to book the perpetrators who have destroyed the development of the government.
“The government has made unprecedented development in the country in the last 16 years. The countrymen are getting the benefits of these developments. Why so much anger on these developments? Countrymen will have to resist and bring to book the perpetrators who have destroyed the government's development,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina said this on Thursday morning while visiting the Mirpur-10 metro rail station which was attacked and vandalized by the agitators during the anti-quota movement.
She also urged the people to resist the destroyers.
“I have been working for the betterment of the livelihood of the people. The government will ensure a secure journey to the workplaces of the citizens. We will try to make a financially solvent country. A country which gets independence by blood can’t be failed,” said the premier.
Hasina said metro rail has given relief to the Dhaka dwellers from traffic gridlocks.
"We can’t allow such destruction of this modern mass transportation."
Earlier on Friday, agitators attacked Mirpur-10 and Kazipara metro rail stations during an anti-quota movement. They destroyed many important instruments of these stations.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) said it needs more than one year to re-launch Mirpur-10 and Kazipara metro rail stations.
It has already formed an investigation committee to count the losses of the properties by the attacks.
