REHAB Fair 2024, the largest housing sector event, kicks off this Monday at the BICC in Agargaon, Dhaka. Running through Friday, the fair will feature 220 stalls. This year, REHAB has secured 7 gold sponsors, 18 co-sponsors, 18 building material suppliers, and 10 financial institutions.
During a press conference at the CIRDAP Auditorium on Thursday, Md. Wahiduzzaman, President of REHAB, provided details of the upcoming fair. He emphasized the challenges currently hindering the housing sector, including high registration costs, rising interest rates, and the new Dhaka Action Plan (DAP). Wahiduzzaman highlighted that these factors are contributing to reduced investments, job losses, and a slowdown in construction activity. "The housing sector is facing a standstill due to project approval delays, and many people are currently unemployed," he said, referring to the DAP’s impact.
Despite these setbacks, Wahiduzzaman stressed that the fair remains an important platform for connecting buyers with housing solutions. "This fair plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between REHAB members and potential buyers," he added. The fair also aims to promote affordable housing options, helping buyers find flats and apartments within their budgets.
The opening session of REHAB Fair 2024 will feature AF Hassan Ariff, Adviser to the Interim Government for Civil Aviation, Tourism, and Land, as the chief guest. RAJUK Chairman Major General Dr. Md. Shiddikur Rahman Sarker (retd.) will attend as a special guest. The session, which begins at 3 p.m. in BICC’s Hall of Fame, will be followed by the opening of the fair to the public. The fair will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
As in previous years, visitors can purchase tickets for 50 Taka (single-entry) or 100 Taka (multiple-entry for five visits). All ticket sales proceeds will be donated to those in need. A raffle draw will be held each evening at 9 p.m., offering exciting prizes throughout the event.
