The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has demanded an exemplary punishment of those involved in the rape and murder of Najma, who worked as a housemaid in the Indian state of Karnataka.
Students under the platform held demonstrations at the foot of the anti-terrorism Raju Memorial Sculpture on the Dhaka University campus on Saturday afternoon, demanding justice for the victim.
Chanting slogans like “Delhi or Dhaka, Dhaka Dhaka,” they also condemned killings taking place along the Bangladesh-India border.
Yeasmin Mitu, a Dhaka University student of Persian language and literature, urged India to ensure a trial of those involved in that barbaric killing of Najma.
Sakib Ahmed, another DU student of international relations, said Bangladesh's sovereignty and respect are being attacked through the killings of people like Najma, Felani, and Swarna.
Najma, was found dead at the Kalkere lake bed in Ramamurthy Nagar of Bengaluru on Friday morning.
According to Indian media, she was killed after rape.
