Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali has announced the recruitment of 500 personnel as police assistants to enhance private security measures in various shopping malls and neighbourhoods across Dhaka.
He made the announcement during a press conference at the DMP Media Center on Minto Road on Saturday. The commissioner stated that experienced individuals would be hired for one month to assist in maintaining security. These police assistants will perform duties similar to regular police officers and will have the authority to arrest criminals.
He further mentioned that the DMP would provide them with badges. If any of these assistants face an attack while apprehending criminals, it will be treated as “police assault”, and legal action will be taken accordingly.
