A total of 110 families in six upazilas of the district, who were badly affected by the recent flood in the region, will get new houses from the post-flood rehabilitation special housing project, district administration sources said.
The list has already been finalized by the district and upazila level committees.
Of the total houses, 35 houses will be constructed in Sadar upazila, 60 houses each will be constructed in Parshuram, Fulgazi and Chhagalnaiya upazilas and five houses in Sonagazi and 10 houses in Daganbhuiyan upazilas, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Abhishek Das said.
He said that houses of 492 sq ft and 500 sq ft will be constructed in two categories. The total cost of constructing two types of houses will be Taka 18,35,000.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Raihan Mehboob said Bangladesh Army will implement the project and the construction work of the houses can start within the next two weeks.
He said that 1,718 houses were fully damaged and 6,941 houses were partially damaged in the August floods in the district this year.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Saiful Islam said the affected families will also come under the government assistance in phases.
Meanwhile, the repair work of roads, bridges, culverts damaged in the floods has started, DC said.
