Mirza Mehedi Tamal, crime chief of the largest-circulated national daily Bangladesh Pratidin, and Mamunur Rashid, senior reporter of the English daily Bangladesh Observer, have been elected president and general secretary of Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) respectively.
Tamal, a renowned journalist of the vernacular newspaper of the country's largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group, has been reelected president for the second consecutive term through polls held on Tuesday.
The four-member election commission announced the names of the winners after counting votes at Dhaka Reporters Unity.
Other office bearers are Vice-President Masum Mizan, Joint Secretary Rudro Mizan, Organising Secretary Anwarul Haque Bakul, Publicity and Publication Secretary SM Fayez, Finance Secretary Imdadul Haque, Sports and Cultural Secretary Abu Zafor, Welfare Secretary Ashim Siddiqui, International Secretary Tanvir, Executive members Abdullah Al Mamun, Jashim Uddin and Enamul Karim Rupon.
Office Secretary Kamal Hossain Talukdar and Training and ICT Secretary Ismail Hossain Imu have been elected unopposed.
