At least 10 people were injured in a violent clash between students of Dhaka College and City College in the Science Lab area on Wednesday afternoon.
Four of the injured were immediately taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
According to witnesses, both groups were armed with sticks and iron rods, engaged in a chase, and hurled brick chips at each other, resulting in the injuries. The cause of the clash remains unconfirmed at this time.
Police and military personnel have been deployed to the area to control the situation.
After several days of closure due to student protests, classes resumed at City College today.
Meanwhile, Dhaka College students were protesting, demanding the resignation of teachers they consider "allies of the dictator."
In the afternoon, some Dhaka College students vandalized a bus in the Science Lab area, sparking a dispute that eventually escalated into a clash between Dhaka College and City College students.
Tarikul Islam, Assistant Commissioner of Dhanmondi Zone, stated that the conflict reportedly began over the vandalism of two buses belonging to Dhaka College. "The clash is ongoing, and we are working to bring the situation under control," he said.
As a result of the violence, traffic at the busy intersection has come to a standstill.
